I took up an MA Book Arts course at Camberwell
College of Arts (University of the Arts, London)
in 2004 to focus on the way the book form can be
used as a container for different sensations. My two
degree show projects – Highgate–Finsbury
Park–Highgate and Thames Barrier Park
were based on traditional medium format photography
printed digitally and bound in book form.
Highgate–Finsbury Park–Highgate is a journey through a dismantled railway line in North London, following the track beds overgrown with vegetation. The purpose of transporting people is preserved through official path use, but the pace is slower than before... The book can be viewed front to back and back to front, as it is based on the accordion fold. Limited edition, bound in fluffy paper.
Thames Barrier Park is a graphical analysis of the landscape in this East London park. Two booklets show faithful photographs and their counterparts in line art. The book can be used as a puzzle, with the reader required to match pictures from both books. Limited edition, spiral bound.
